A specialist salon tipping tool
This site exists to do one thing well: calculate a tip for hairdresser and salon services. It is not a general hair blog and it is not a generic calculator directory. The guides and the calculator are built around the situations that actually come up at a salon register, from a simple haircut to a color appointment with a colorist, a stylist and an assistant.
What we cover includes hairdressers, stylists, colorists, barbers, assistants and other salon professionals, as well as appointments where multiple providers are involved. The calculator supports each of those cases, including splitting a tip between providers.
How the calculator works
The calculator runs entirely in your browser. The bill amounts and percentages you type are used to compute the result on your device and are not stored or sent to a server. There is no sign-up, no account and no login required to use it. You can open the tool, get your number and close the page.
The calculation itself is simple and is documented openly. The tip is the service amount multiplied by the percentage you choose, and the total is the service amount plus the tip. Our methodology page sets out the exact formulas, including how multiple providers, discounts, tax and service charges are handled.
Why it exists
Splitting a bill across several providers, applying a discount, or deciding whether to tip before or after tax can turn a straightforward decision into mental arithmetic at the register. The goal here is to remove that friction and show the working clearly, so the choice about how much to tip stays yours.
The calculator does not pick a percentage for you. It applies whatever percentage you enter and shows the result, whether you want a quick estimate or a breakdown per provider.
Accuracy and independence
We publish our sources and methodology rather than asking you to take a number on trust. Where U.S. guidance is commonly cited, we say so and describe it as a widely reported custom, not a requirement. Common ranges such as 15% to 20% are presented as customary, and we are explicit that practices vary by country, salon and situation.
We do not publish fake reviews, ratings, testimonials, statistics or invented sources. If a figure is uncertain, we would rather say so than imply a precision that does not exist. When something needs fixing, our corrections policy explains how to report it and how we review it.
